ArqPress to Deliver World Cup Stadium Seminar at Expo Estádio 2010
Leading architectural publisher and Finestra Magazine confirmed at 2010 event to discuss structure, façades and roofs for Brazil’s World Cup stadiums
Expo Estádio brings together the main players of the stadium and sport facility industry for three days of exhibition and conferences, from October 6th-8th 2010 in Sao Paulo
After a successful debut at the 2009 Expo Estádio event, ArqPress, the leading publisher of architectural magazines, returns to present a second round of seminars with the focus again on the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Last year the emphasis of the talks was very much on plans and designs, with ten of the twelve architects responsible for the host cities’ venues presenting their visions of how they should look. 250 people from the world of engineering, marketing, product design and, of course, architecture attended, and Real Alliance (the show organizer) expect an even greater turn out this time around.
In association with Finestra Magazine, the focus of this year’s seminars will be on sustainability, eco-efficiency and technology within the stadiums. As publisher Fernando Mungioli puts it, “This year the seminar revolves around speeches by the architects regarding the structures, roofing and the façades of the stadium, and the technology required. FIFA has also laid down numerous stipulations regarding the ‘green’ aspects of stadiums to be fulfilled and goals to be met, all of which will be discussed.”
This open forum for the discussion of problems and solutions on design, arquitectue and construction prior to the big events is uniquely presented by Expo Estádio. Specific subjects will be tackled such as the challenges for the architects such as the removal of a full tier of seating at the Cuiabá stadium once the tournament is over to avoid wastefulness and ensure a better legacy for the building.
“Critical points for FIFA currently include the infrastructure around the stadiums,” continues Fernando. “The Maracanã in Rio has huge problems with access, transport and flooding, whilst Morumbi in Sao Paulo is seeking resolution to its parking problems and lack of VIP facilities. On top of which there are all the FIFA regulations such as the size of the press room, the changing rooms, the visibility of the pitch from all corners of the stadium to be taken into consideration.”
Huge challenges remain ahead for those responsible for the design and building of these twelve venues, and with ArqPress in partnership with Expo Estádio, all aspects of their development will be addressed to the stadium industry’s key companies.
